Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat – In Hinduism, the Char Dham of four directions is considering being of great importance. In addition, this char Dham of all directions is located in India. About Dwarka

Dwarka is count in one of the Dham. Along with this, Dwarka is also count in Saptapuri. However, today many places are calling by the name of Dwarka. Two places are famous as the original Dwarka. One is “Gomti Dwarka” and the other is “Bet Dwarka”.

Dwarka is the city of Lord Krishna. After leaving Mathura, Lord Krishna settled Dwarka. This was his palace. His settled city had merged into the sea. The help of some historians, scientists, Scuba divers, is still exploring. Where is the original Dwarka? It remains a mystery till date. Some people consider Gomti to be Dwarka, and some believe that Bet dwarka is Dwarka Puri.

Importance of Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat

The temple of Dwarka is a sacred pilgrimage site for all Hindu pilgrims. Dwarkadhish Temple is one of the Char Dham.

Dwarka is also one of the seven holy pilgrimage sites of ‘Sapta Puri’. Visiting Dwarkadhish temple is also known to lead moksha or the path of salvation. It is believe that the temple stands at the place where Lord Krishna inhabited in centuries ago.

Dwarkadhish Temple History

The temple of Dwarka has a long history of about 2500 years. The archaeological exploration of the original Dwarka temple is 2200 years old.

 It was rebuilt several times. Archaeologists believe that the temple was rebuilt around 413 AD during the reign of Gupta dynasty and thus some of the oldest parts of the temple belong to the Gupta period.

It is also said that Muslim armies around the 11th century demolished the temple and these Muslim armies continued to attack the temple several times until the 15th century and the temple was rebuilt during this period.

During the 16th century, the temple was rebuilt and according to archaeological studies, the present temple was rebuilt in 1730.

According to the mythological story, Kans father-in-law Jarasandha attacked Mathura several times to avenge Kans death. Due to repeated invasions of Jarasandha, Mathura was doing a lot of damage, so Lord Krishna left Mathura. Called the Vishwakarma of heaven and built the city of Dwarka in one night.

After the construction of Dwarka, Lord Krishna transported the residents of Mathura to Dwarka through Garuda. After that he settled there of his life. Lord Krishna and his grandchildren ruled Dwarka. Vajranabh built the Dwarkadhish Temple at the Hari Griha or the residential place of Lord Krishna.

Dwarkadhish Temple in Gujarat

This is the main Dwarkadhish temple of Dwarka. Which is also called the temple of Shreeranchhodarayaji. This temple is situating in the middle of a boundary wall. This has gates all around. This temple is seven storey and peak. A very large flag is hoisting on the top of the temple. This flag is the largest flag in the world. There is a festival here while climbing.

The temple is 40 square feet long and wide. Moreover, is 140 feet high. White and blue marble pieces have been artistically placed on the floor of the temple. The idol of Shriranchodarai ji, and the gold and silver work in the temple gate. There is a legend behind the name of this idol of Lord Shri Krishna. It is know that Lord Krishna ran away from the war against Kalayavan and reached Dwarka. Due to which his name was Ranchodji.

The main bench in the temple has a quadrangular statue of Sriranchhodrayaji. The fourth floor above the temple has a statue of Ambaji.

The Bodana devotee in Dakor took the original idol of Ranchhodaray of Dwarka. He is now in Dakor. Six months after that, the second statue was found in a Vapi near Ladwa village. The same idol now sits in the temple.

Gomti

Dwarka has a large skin in the west and south direction. In which the water of the sea is full. This is calling Gomti. It is not a river. Due to this, this Dwarka is calling Gomti Dwarka. Nine paved ghats are built on the banks of Gomti.

Nishpap Sarovar

This is a small lake. This is near Government Ghats. It is filling with salt water from Gomti. Travelers first bathe in the nishpap sarovar and then take a bath in Gomti. Pinddaan is also doing here.

Bet Dwarka

Gomti is a small island in the Gulf of Kutch, about 20 miles northeast of Dwarka. It is calling Bet Dwarka because it is a bet (Dwip).

Shri Krishna Mahal

There are three palaces and three storey palaces in a huge square in this island. On going directly east through the gate, one finds the palace of Lord Krishna on the right. It has Pradyuman’s temple on the east side. In addition, in the middle is the temple of Shreeranchhodrayji. Moreover, there are many temples in the circumambulation of this palace. This is visible.
